Maribor Park

Set across four acres (the equivalent of 13 Olympic swimming pools), Maribor Park takes its name from Maribor, the second largest city in Slovenia which Greenwich has been twinned with since 1966. Providing a link between Woolwich Town Centre and the River Thames, the concept for Maribor Park was to establish a tranquil place where people can come together or enjoy secluded spots to simply stop and watch the world go by.

As an open space that begins at The Source and flows through Royal Arsenal Riverside, Maribor Park also incorporates meandering streams that connect everything back to the river. Once when fully

complete, it will serve the wider community with extensive opportunities for recreation and play within a lush, verdant landscape. The park itself takes the form of a green spine, its linear form reflecting the industrial history of the immediate area and its strong association with the rope-making industry. Central to this green spine, is a water feature that visually links the park together.
